Force Karl Rove to Testify
The Justice Department is vital to our democracy's balance of powers. It
must enforce the law immune from political influence. But under the Bush
administration it has been turned to an instrument of partisan attack.
Bush opponents (such as former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman) have been taken down in kangaroo trials. Attorneys deemed
not loyal to the Bush agenda have been fired. There is little doubt Karl
Rove has something to do with this perversion of justice. That's why
Congress subpoenaed him to testify on the topic. Rove's response? He
refuses, claiming "executive privilege." It seems Rove, like his bosses
Bush and Cheney, thinks he's above the law.
Urge Speaker Pelosi to hold Rove in inherent contempt of Congress, and compel his sworn testimony on the politicization of the Justice Department.

Extend Alternative Energy Tax Credits
Oil is a dead end. It's wrecking our climate and our economy. Now is the
time to switch to alternatives. An effective way to speed the shift is
to give alternative energy producers tax breaks similar to those that
oil companies enjoy. Since 2005, tax credits for producers of solar and
wind power have helped boost renewable-energy output to new highs. But
the credits are set to expire in December. We need long-term extension of both the Investment Tax Credit for companies that invest in solar power and the Production Tax Credit for wind-energy producers.
Urge your senator to support a
permanent extension of the tax credits for wind and solar power.
